Customer Review: Better than the $70 Krups it replaced!

Huh--I don't get these lukewarm reviews?
I had a Braun that lasted years--was the best machine I'd ever had. Unfortunately, it is no longer made so I replaced it with a Krups that I paid $70 for. After 6 months, I just got irritated with all its idiosyncracies. Here's how I compare this Mr. Coffee with that Krups...
1. I love the simplicity of the Mr. Coffee. You can figure out how to program it and run it by intuition alone. After 6 months with the Krups, I had to get the manual out everytime I needed to re-set it. And, yes, I am quite tech-savvy.
2. I love the simplicity of the Mr. Coffee (yes, I'm repeating that). No irritating "bells and whistles". I like that it does not beep, loud and irritatingly, when the coffee is done, like the Krups did.
3. I like that it does not beep and turn off if there is no water in the tank, like the Krups did. This actually means the Mr. Coffee allows you to re-warm a leftover pot of coffee, if you are crude enough to do so (I am!). Believe it or not, the Krups would not allow you to do this.
4. I like that the Mr. Coffee carafe is much thicker glass than the Krups. I also like that the handle is not just "glued on" like the Krups is.
5. I've never had the filter fall over and get grounds in the carafe. The Krups did this about half the time, due to having to swing the basket closed which would catch the top of the filter.
6. I like that there is a huge target for pouring water in the tank. The Krups almost required one to be a contortionist.
7. I like the huge, well-sealed, water level markings on both sides of the tank. The Krups had a little tube on one side that always got air bubbles and leaked on the counter.
8. Speaking of leaking, the tank in the Mr. Coffee has not. The Krups would leak a little onto the counter about once a week.
9. Perhaps there has been a design adjustment, but my Mr. Coffee carafe does not leak when pouring. The Krups did EVERY time.
10. I like that you can see the display all the time. The Krups backlight would only stay on for a minute or so after pressing one of the buttons.
11. I will say this--the Krups made hotter coffee. To be honest, it was a bit too hot for me. This Mr. Coffee does not make the coffee as hot but it is sufficient for my wife and me. It's hot enough that, without comparing to the Krups, one probably wouldn't even notice.
In ending, I don't know what the longevity will be--I haven't had a Mr. Coffee brand in decades. But for $27, even a year will be fine compared to (too many of) the alternatives.
