Customer Review: Not all it is cracked up to be
Summary: 2 Stars

We purchased this maker at Cosco around 5 months ago. Liked the machine, coffee was hot and tasted good. My wife was telling me she was finding water under the pot after a few months, not always but now and then. All the sudden a week ago wanted to make coffee and nothing happened. No power to the pot. Called Mr. Coffee and gave them required info and they sent a new one at no charge. My complaint is in the last few years we have gone through 4 Mr. Coffee pots. They may have been good at one time, but these China made pots are a waste of money. Anyone know of a good coffee pot that is actually made in USA or Europe. I am done with Chinese garbage. Will use a cheap percolator if need be.

Customer Review: Quality Coffee Brewer (FTX33GTF -- not FTX25)
Summary: 4 Stars

The FTX25 is the old version of this model.
Most of the negative reviews here are for that model.
What is out now is the FTX33GTF, and as a previous review points out, most of the flaws in the old design have been addressed. For the price, this coffee maker brews a great pot of coffee, looks good doing it and has some nice features as well.

The FTX33GTF is a 12 cup brewer, a must in my household. Most of the time we only brew about 8 cups though and it takes about 5-10 minutes. It has a beep alarm that can be turned on or off to let you know when the brewing is done and the adjustable warmer is a nice touch. I always keep the setting on "strong" so don't know how a "normal" cup of coffee from this brewer would be any different. I like having a timer, but normally end up cleaing the coffee maker before using it each mornign so I don't use that feature much. It is easy to clean and the carbon disc that filters the chlorine out of tap water is nice to have. If you use bottled or filtered water, you won't need them though.

Though not enough to keep me from recommending this appliance, there are a few niggles. The clock light is very bright and cannot be adjusted. The "coffee done" beep is loud and some find it annoying. You need to pour the water in fairly slowly so that it doesn't splatter and a lot of moisture is retained in the top layers of the machine. The Decanter that comes with the coffee maker seems rather cheap and flimsy, though mine has held up so far. The lid comes off a little too easily and water gets trapped between the glass and plastic part...leading to drips when pouring. It also leaks a little bit of water from the reservoir when it is filled, but not that much.

All in all, I am quite happy with this coffee maker. It is low maintenance, fairly easy to use and brews a good cup 'o joe. And in the end, that is the most important thing.

Customer Review: Another leaker........
Summary: 2 Stars

I've had this coffee maker for over a couple years (bought it for its good looks and the name). In the beginning it was fine. Then it started to leak out the bottom....sometimes water, sometimes coffee. When pulling it out to clean or fill I never knew which one I'd be wiping up. It still makes good coffee but I'm tired of the mess...especially for a $50 machine. I just might go back to a cheaper model (another brand).

Customer Review: Joe DiMaggio Was Right About Mr. Coffee
Summary: 5 Stars

February 12, 2008

My family has always owned a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker since the Yankee Clipper was their exclusive pitchman. The 12 cup programmable since it hit the market has always been an accurate and reliable unit, providing great tasting coffee on a consistent basis. One minor problem we have with our machine is that the right and left water level windows are somehow obscured, compelling us to measure the water input level with a measuring cup or the carafe itself, both methods creating a negligible amount of inconvenience. I notified Mr. Coffee customer service and while not agreeing to resolve this, I credit them with creating a file on the issue. This apparent defect notwithstanding, I still recommend Mr. Coffee as a preferred vendor of this class of coffeemaker.
