Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of the Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable Cone Coffeemaker, BlackCustomer Review: But it looked so nice in the store! Summary: 2 StarsWe looked for a coffee maker to replace one that didn't have the timer on it. We found this one, which looked like a great little machine. Then we brought it home!
Turns out you have to pour the water into a small grated opening, in the back of the machine. Which means it has to be completely removed from its spot and turned to the side to do this. Very inconvenient.
Next is how you get the water to the little grate... we fill the coffee pot with the prescibed amount of water and dump it in. Except, the water runs all down the front of the spout, all over the counter, floor or your clothes, unless you pour it at a pain-stakingly slow pace. This also happens when you pour from the pot to the coffee cup... except then you are covered with nice staining coffee. Now if I was drinking those tiny little cups of coffee, that would be fine... but we go through about a gallon of coffee a day and fill big travel mugs. Way too slow for this usage!
The clock is tough to read. I have tried twice to set it for coffee in the morning. Once I didn't get the time right (same size second hand and minute hand) and the other time I didn't know it was AM/PM specific, since you can't see that unless you are physically below the coffee pot. Dumb place to put the markers...
And then finally, the water filter. Great idea! But, you can't find them anyplace. Mine was used about 10 times before I had a white build-up all over it. Husband kept saying it was mold. Then he threw it away.
Would I buy it again? No, probably not. Should you buy it? I guess that depends on how long you can hold your arm out in front of you with a full pot of coffee in it.
